A YOUNG girl has appeared in court and told how a man hurt her as she was raped in his flat.

The girl was aged seven when she was allegedly raped by David Fielding at his home in Georgina Court, Morris Green, in May.

A jury has been told that 62-year-old Fielding pulled the girl and her 10-year-old friend into the flat after offering to show them his teddy bear collection.

Fielding denies kidnap, sexual assault, rape and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

On the second day of the trial at Bolton Crown Court the jury heard the younger girl give evidence via a video link.

In order to make the child more comfortable the judge and barristers removed their wigs and gowns and a specially trained intermediary sat with her as she gave evidence. The court first saw a recording of a video interview the girl gave to police shortly after the alleged assaults on Spring Bank Holiday Monday.

Several children had been playing on the grass near Fielding’s home when he invited the two girls inside.

In her interview the younger girl told how they refused to go and asked him to bring the teddies out to them instead.

“He said that he would and so we went to the door and then he dragged us in,” she said.

The girl added that Fielding was playing with their hair and asked them to lie on the sofa.

They refused but then her friend did lie down.

“She did coz she got scared,” said the girl. She revealed how Fielding then “rubbed his privates” on the older girl.

“Then he showed us the teddies and showed us a picture of Michelle Keegan who used to be in Coronation Street,” she said.

“He tried telling us to come to the toilet with him but we didn’t.”

Fielding is said to have dragged the younger girl into the bedroom, pushed her onto the bed, took off the bottom half of his clothing and raped her.

“He kind of ripped my knickers when he was doing it,” she said, adding that it was “really painful”.

“I was like ‘help me’ and I was crying.”

Cross examined by Micheal Johnson, defending, the girl insisted that Fielding had behaved wrongly towards her and her friend.

“The man says that he didn’t do anything bad or rude to you, is he lying?” asked Mr Johnson.

“Yeah, that’s a lie,” she replied.

“The man says he didn’t do anything bad or rude to [your friend],” added Mr Johnson.

“Yes, he did,” she said.

The trial continues and the second girl is due to give evidence via a video link today.
