A DAUGHTER has made a desperate appeal for the driver of a hit and run to come forward after her father was left hospitalised.

Jane Stott urged the driver, who fled from the scene in Starling Road, Radcliffe, to "have courage and do the right thing."

Mrs Stott's 73-year-old father was on his way home with his wife, also 73, when the incident occurred at about 4pm yesterday. He is currently in Fairfield General Hospital receiving treatment for multiple injuries.

"My dad has suffered some very serious injuries", Mrs Stott said.

"He has a broken neck, a fractured skull and bleeds on the brain. He is not in a good way but he is stable.

"A million things are going through my mind. I'm worried for my family. I don't understand where someone's moral compass is in this situation. Why would you drive away?

"What has happened has happened, but please come forward. We are certain this was an accident but please have the courage to come forward."

Ambulance crews were called to the scene shortly after 4pm. Police were also in attendance.

It is believed a police cordon was put in place this morning - more than 15 hours after the incident.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a comment.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "We were called shortly after 4pm to a collision.

"We took a man to hospital.

"He suffered facial injuries. He was conscious and breathing."

An ambulance and rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene. Paramedics remained in attendance for about 40 minutes.
