A FAMILY is offering a monetary reward for information which helps them find the driver of a tractor which left the scene after a two-vehicle crash in Astley Bridge.

A video of the incident, at the junction between Belmont Road and Bar Lane, has been shared on social media. The family has called for witnesses to come forward.

The collision which occurred shortly before 4pm yesterday is being investigated by the police.

Lynette Booth, who was driving the black Range Rover involved in the crash, self-referred herself to A&E and has been prescribed painkillers for concussion, a torn tendon and whiplash.

The mum-of-three said: "I'm really shaken up. I'm just glad my little children were not in the car. I was quite dazed. I smashed my head against the driver's window.

"I tried to swerve but the front of my car collided with the side of the trailer.

"The driver did pull up for a few seconds further down the road. Then he took a left. I'm just so shocked he didn't stop."

Mrs Booth, aged 40 who lives in Astley Bridge, claims she was travelling on a green light and that the driver of the tractor "went through a red light".

CCTV footage shows the tractor with its attached trailer travelling in Belmont Road in the direction of Blackburn Road. The black Range Rover is travelling out of Bar Road when the collision occurs. The Range Rover then collided with a traffic light.

Mrs Booth's daughter Lauryn Eckersley, aged 19, said: "If it had been a couple of seconds later, mum would be in a really bad place, or worse, she could have been killed.

"We are offering £1,000 for the name of the driver, the company and vehicle registration number."

Greater Manchester Police's traffic division has urged any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to contact them.

Lucy Prideaux, who owns Jollypops sweet shop in Belmont Road, said she was on her phone facing the direction of the incident when it happened.

"I heard the crunch and ran outside", she said. "There were other witnesses.

"The tractor stopped, turned around and then drove off. I see the tractor every day.

"The woman driver was lucky. If she had been in a smaller car I think she would have come off worse. I think the 4x4 took a lot of the impact.

"An ambulance stopped to check she was okay."
