THE ever-popular Santa sleigh will be taking to the streets of Radcliffe over the coming days and weeks.

Father Christmas took his first turn of the town last night, covering Outwood Road East.

A route has been planned, with hundreds of homes expecting to receive a visit from the Rotary Club of Radcliffe on weekdays until December 21.

The sleigh is the Rotary Club's largest fundraising effort of the calendar year.

For 2018, the Rotary Club has organised two static nights, the first of which will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at Dunelm car park between 6pm and 8pm.

The second will be held at Lidl car park on Friday, December 14. All of the proceeds from this particular night will be donated to Liv's Trust — a memorial to 15-year-old Olivia Campbell-Hardy, who was killed in the Manchester Arena bombing in May 2017.

On December 14, there will be entertainment from 6pm until 8pm, including performances by Encore Choir, Step Together, and Sarah Dennis.

A bucket collection will take place on Saturday, December 8 and 15 at Asda in Radcliffe.

Secretary Gillian Stainthorpe said: "Our hope is that people in central Radcliffe will come along to one or both of the static events.

"There will be an opportunity for everyone to see Santa."
