PLANS for up to 400 houses at the site of the former East Lancashire Paper Mill are due to be considered by Bury Council's planning committee next week.

Any submissions from members of the public must be submitted before 12 noon this Friday.

Proposals for the housing development in Radcliffe first came to light in January this year.

Since the formal application was submitted to Bury Council in June, objections have been made by Sport England and the Environment Agency.

Bury Council and Homes England (the government's housing agency) are seeking to build up to 400 residential dwellings, including vehicle access, involving the relocation of the East Lancs Paper Mill Cricket Club pitch.

If approved, the site would have access off Cross Street via a new road, from Church Street East, and from Cock Clod Street.

Proposals have also been made for vehicle access by extending Tower Street.

The planning meeting is at 7pm on Tuesday. To view the plans, search application 62969 at https://planning.bury.gov.uk.
