BURY-born soap star Jazmine Franks has thrown her support behind a homeless charity’s Christmas appeal.

The former Hollyoaks actress is backing Manchester-based Barnabus’s appeal for people to donate items to give to those in need this winter.

Among the items being asked for are food, supermarket vouchers, warm clothing, outerwear and sleeping bags, and donations towards heating and utilities.

Barnabus is also appealing for boxes of Cadbury’s Roses, Miniature Heroes and Celebrations, thermal gloves, scarves and hats, small bottles of body wash, and gift bags.

Jazmine, from Ainsworth, has been working with the charity as a patron since November 2016, working at its base in Manchester, as well as assisting and organising fundraising events including a recent skydive.

She said: “Even if people think they’re only giving a small amount, it still makes a huge difference.

“Every donation we get adds up - Whether it be money, clothing or food, it’s all so important. We just want to help the people who need it most and with everyone mucking in it makes the work a little bit easier.”

Anyone wishing to help out can send donations to The Beacon Centre, 45 Bloom Street, Manchester, M1 3LY.
