AN appeal has been shared for food donations to support the homeless community in Radcliffe.

Organisations have banded together to provide help for those who are likely to be sleeping on the streets this Christmas.

The appeal is in aid of the Food Bank at the ROC Centre in Westminster Avenue, which was established earlier this year as a Friday morning drop-in. The Food Bank now attracts more than 30 people each week.

Members of Corrie Gardeners residents group in conjunction with Caritas, Trinity Baptist Church and Cllr Jamie Walker, are calling on residents across Radcliffe to donate food items to help the charity.

Cllr Walker is collecting various foodstuffs, and has offered to pick up items on request. Donations of potatoes, long-life vegetables, cereals, UHT milk, coffee and sugar are being taken. The appeal also includes a request for tins of soup, other tinned goods, dried pasta, rice and fruit juice.

To donate, email Cllr Walker at j.walker@bury.gov.uk.
