AWARD-winning comedian Sindhu Vee is bringing her hilarious and critically acclaimed show to Bury

After the huge success of her debut Edinburgh Fringe run that went to several extra shows — and secured her an Edinburgh Comedy Newcomer award nomination for her show ‘Sandhog’ — Sindhu has announced a full UK tour starting on February 1 in Crawley and culminating on 3rd April in Bath.

This is in addition to her two week Soho Theatre run in January, a booking on the prestigious Live At The Apollo and a second Radio 4 series commission.

She will be taking to the stage at The Met on March 23.

The comedian, who worked as a model, said: "I cannot wait to bring Sandhog to Bury!

"I’ve never done a show there I’ve had Manchester peeps in my shows here and in Edinburgh and they are always so up for a good laugh and very comedy savvy.

"The last time I was there was in October writing and hosting Pick of the Week on BBC4 —this time it will be with my own show and that is absolutely so thrilling for me!"

The comedian, who only started gigging properly in 2015, has already racked up an impressive range of recent credits that include ‘QI’ & ‘Have I Got News For You’.

She is the new host of BBC R4 Comedy of the Week Podcast and has her own Radio 4 comedy series, 'Sindhustan', that she recorded this June and transmits later this year.

The comedian has also had her own sitcom optioned by a production company. She has just been asked to be a judge on the Bollinger Everyman committee an award for fiction — a previous winner was Helen Fielding).

Sindhu, who was born and raised in India and has received degrees from Delhi, Oxford —for which she got a Radhakrishnan scholarship — McGill and Chicago universities.

She also has half a PHD! After a very short stint being an Yves San Laurent model, she changed direction putting her qualifications to good use and had a successful career in investment banking.

She has three kids with her Danish husband and now in her early 40’s Sindhu decided it was time to change direction and " make her parents proud starting a career in comedy".

Sandhog is about how "exhausting and complicated it is to love our children, spouse and parents", but how "inescapable the urge is to love them as fully as we can and it’s about being the generation responsible for both the kids and ageing parents".

This show also looks at some home truths on marriage.
