A MAN who was caught carrying a kitchen knife at the Art Picture House, Bury on November 24 has been given a suspended prison sentence.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Daniel Khan, aged 42, of Orchid Drive, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and using threatening behaviour on November 29.

Magistrates sentenced him to five months in prison, suspended for 12 months and he must have treatment for alcohol addiction for nine months.

In addition he was banned from going to the Earl of Derby pub for 12 months and must participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities.

He was ordered to pay a total of £200 in compensation to his victims plus £85 towards prosecution costs.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to undertake 100 hours of unpaid work after he was convicted of using threatening behaviour, which was racially aggravated, towards two other men.

Otis Wilson, aged 24, of Orchid Drove, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on November 29.

Manchester magistrates heard the unprovoked incident started when Wilson, who has no previous convictions, was drunk and he is now remorseful.

They ordered him to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities, pay his victims £100 each and £85 towards prosecution costs.

A SHOPLIFTER who targeted Bury shops on December 20 has been sentenced to 22 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered to have treatment for drug addiction.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Tracey Clarke, aged 47, of Ernest Street, Prestwich, admitted stealing perfume from Debenhams, shower gel from Lush, a pair of children’s trainers from Diechmann and two bottles of gin from Aldi.

The court heard Clarke had only recently been convicted of theft and had gone equipped with a foil lined bag.

She was ordered to have treatment for drug addiction for six months and must pay a £115 victim surcharge.

A MAN who used threatening behaviour after going into a Salford hospital with a weapon has been given a suspended prison sentence.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Charlie Miller, aged 30, of Oak Lane, Whitefield, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on November 5.

The court heard that the offence was racially aggravated and sentenced him to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Miller was also ordered to treatment for alcohol addiction for six months, participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities, pay his victim £100 in compensation and pay £250 towards prosecution costs.

A MAN has been fined £220 for dropping litter in a back street behind Prince Street and Alfred Street, Bury, on February 14.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court the case against Mark Lewington, aged 45, of Goldfinch Drive, Bury, was proved in his absence.

He was also ordered to pay £270 in costs and charges.

A MOTORIST who drove off after being involved in an accident with a Hyundai car has been fined £180 by Manchester magistrates.

Gary Worrall, aged 28, of Roch Crescent, Whitefield, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident, failing to report and accident and driving a Toyota Yaris on Ribble Drive, Whitefield, without care and attention on June 10.

The court added six penalty points to his licence and he was ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

A DRINK driver has been banned from holding a licence for 12 months.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Karl Haslam, aged 29, of Walnut Avenue, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and driving a Vauxhall Zafira in Canal Street, Manchester, on August 3 without care and attention.

He was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

A THIEF who stole toiletries from Home Bargains and toys, worth £515, from Prince Toys, Bury, has been ordered to have treatment for drug addiction for 12 months.

Quinton Rainbird, aged 43, of Heyside Way, Bury, was fined £55 and ordered to pay £545 in compensation.

A MAN who breached a restraining order by contacting a woman in Bury three times has been ordered to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Michael Johnson, aged 34, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the offences.

He was also ordered to participate in 33 days of a building better relationships programme, 15 days of rehabilitation activities and must pay £170 in costs and charges.

A SPEEDING driver has been banned from holding a driving licence for 56 days by Manchester magistrates.

Psanto Eve, aged 28, of Elton Hill Road, Racliffe, was caught driving a Lexus on Stand Lane, Radcliffe, at 69mph in a 30mph limit.

The court also fined him £120 and ordered him to pay £115 in costs and charges.

A WOMAN who drove a car after drinking more than three times the legal level of alcohol has been sentenced to do 70 hours of unpaid work by Manchester magistrates.

Jacqueline Cox, aged 35, of Shaw Street, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence whilst driving a Peugeot 207 on Rochdale Road, Bury, of November 21.

She was banned from driving for two years and was ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a woman to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities after she was convicted of failing to provide a breath specimen for police.

Jane Moore, aged 26, of Greenhill Road, Bury, had denied committing the offence while driving on April 26, but was found guilty. She was also fined £250 plus £585 costs and banned from driving for three years.
