A PRIMARY school has submitted plans to expand — it is the latest of several building projects.

Our Lady of Grace RC Primary School in Prestwich has submitted proposals to Bury Council to build an extension to its main school hall.

As part of the plans, a new playground, measuring about 254m2, could also be built.

The popular school is rated 'outstanding' by education watchdog Ofsted.

In 2013, the school in Highfield Road was granted planning permission for a single storey extension at the front of the building.

Then, in 2016, it secured permission to remove a prefabricated teaching block and build a new early years foundation stage (EYFS) unit for nursery and reception age children.

This work involved relocating the school car park and sports courts.

Its latest proposals were validated by Bury Council's planning department this week.

If granted, the main school hall would be increased by 50sqm in size, up to 1910sqm.

Building materials for the external walls would match the existing stonework, while the roof would be made from high performance felt.
