THIS week's delve into The Bolton News picture archives has unearthed this photograph from June 1991.

It features youngsters from St John's RC Primary School in Bromley Cross and the information accompanying the picture says the team had a successful season in which they finished top of the Bolton Primary Schools' Section C, won the Catholic Cup competition and were runners-up in a six-a-side tournament.

Do you recall that team or did you play for the school side?

Do you recognise any of the faces in the line-up?

THE second picture of the Bolton Boys team from 1988 was featured in the January 3 sporting nostalgia section.

The information with the photograph said the team moved into the third round of the English Trophy with a 1-0 victory over Sefton Boys at Burnden Park, courtesy of a Jeremy Lord goal.

The match winner, who says he is best known as Jez, got in touch and said: "My brother has just messaged me with an article in the BN about playing for Bolton Boys.

"I am Jeremy Lord or Jez Lord which I was better known as.

"I remember the game well, David Flitcroft crossed the ball from the ring wing and I headed in at the near post.

"I remember people in the crowd chanting 'There's only one Jez Lord in the land'.

"That is funny looking back.

"I've still got the paper clipping in my garage.

"I actually live in Essex these days."

Meanwhile, Michael Platt spotted himself in the line-up and added: "I spotted the Bolton boys team in last week’s paper. My grandmother who passed away a few years ago had retained the match programme.

"I’m the unhappy one on the right of the back row

"Carlo Nash and David Flitcroft went on to play professionally."

Not only did Michael represent Bolton Boys but the tradition is running in the family with his son Jude in the current Under-14s side, pictured front row, second right.

Michael said: "My 13-year-old son Jude Platt plays for the current under-14s' Bolton Boys."
