DEBRIS feared to be toxic on the future coach car park at Bolton Wanderers Academy ground has caused anger as it piles up near homes.

The pile reached 6ft, the height of fences, sparking concern among Lostock residents about the size of the “unstable” pile of rubble being dumped by trucks on the land.

The construction site borders the back of Fox Hunter Close. Residents say they faced “flooding and subsistence problems” and have reported that their houses “shake” when the rubble is dropped off.

In a public meeting in November, residents also questioned what the rubble contains, worried that it may be toxic.

The concerns were sent to Bolton Council by Chris Green MP.

The rubble problem was one of a list of 14 questions sent.

Mr Green said: “During a meeting Cllr Baines and I held last year, local residents raised genuine and legitimate concerns about the safety of the materials at the BWFC coach park.

“I raised these concerns on the behalf of my constituents with Bolton Council a month ago and I have still not received a response.

“This is why it does not surprise me that many residents feel that the Council are dismissing their concerns but I will be sure to update them if and when I get a response from the Council.”

The developer Westchurch Homes had no comment.

Bolton Wanderers also had no comment to add at this stage.

Residents have asked whether the surface will be reduced in height during the construction process, adding that if the coach park is kept at this level passengers will be able to see into bedroom windows.

Shelley Lambert, a resident from a neighbouring street, said: “We’re still waiting for an answer from the council.

“I feel sorry for the people that live there.

“Some of them have said that if they had known that this was going to happen, they would have never bought their house.”
