AN AMATEUR dramatic society are once again getting ready to tread the boards with their new pantomime production.

St Anne’s Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS) will bring Humpty Dumpty – The Egg’s Factor to Four Lane Ends Congregational Church at the start of next month.

The production is the first of two pantomimes the Tottington-based society bring to the stage each year, alongside another light-hearted summer show.

Packed full of fun and “eggscruciating yolks”, the pantomime will take audiences to the land of Eggshellia where the wicked sorceress Salmonella has come to exact her revenge on the town’s people for banishing her brother many years ago.

With a swamp monster and a boggart to add to their troubles Humpty Junior, Tommy Tucker and their friends will have to fight to save the day.

In the lead up to the opening night the talented cast and crew have been rehearsing hard, with plenty of laughs along the way, in order to delight audiences.

The production will also once again feature delightful costumes and scenery especially designed and crafted for the show — with veteran wardrobe mistress Su Terry yet again bringing the character, both charming and malevolent, to life wither her expert sewing skills.

While set designer Peter Davey has worked his magic and artistic talent to create scenes sure to transport audiences off to far away lands.

"Dress rehearsal is fast approaching and everyone's efforts are coming to fruition.

Linda Stevenson, vice chairman of SADOS, said: "Scenery is painted, costumes made, props sourced, musical numbers and lines have been learned. Now we're getting excited for our opening night I''ve just one thing to say to everyone involved in the production of this year's pantomime, "break a leg"."

The pantomime opens at 7.30pm on February 1, with further performances at 2.30pm on February 2, 7.30pm on February 7, 7.30pm on February 8 and 2.30pm on February 9.

Tickets priced £8 for adults and £6 for concessions are available from Rachel Walker on 07736 809817, by emailing sadosproductions@yahoo.com, or from The Cottage Loaf in Tottington.
