A PENSIONER who consumed almost twice the legal alcohol limit has been banned from holding a licence for 18 months.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court Brian Marson, aged 80, of Limefield Brown, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence when driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Walmersley Road, Bury, on December 4 last year.

He was also fined £230 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 100 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman on January 8.

Gabriel Sungura, aged 36, of no fixed address, was also ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £170 in costs and charges.

A MAN who breached a restraining order by contacting a woman on Boxing Day has been fined £200 by Manchester magistrates.

Vijay Singadia, aged 54, of Church Road, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty and was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

HARASSING a woman has led to a £100 fine for a Aaron Jackson, aged 41, of Knight Street, Bury.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court Jackson was also ordered to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities, pay £100 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man after finding him guilty of using threatening behaviour.

Scott Hannah, aged 44, of Malvern Avenue, Bury, was convicted following a trial.

He was fined £293 and ordered to pay £650 in costs and charges.

A restraining order was also made banning him from contacting his victims or going to Canal Street, Heywood.

A MAN has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for six months after he was caught begging in Cross Street, Manchester, on January 14.

Andrew Chukwudiolisa, aged 44, of Bury New Road, Prestwich, pleaded guilty and was also told he must pay a £20 victim surcharge.

A MAN has been electronically tagged and made subject to an 8pm to 8am curfew for four months after committing driving offences on Christmas Day.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court Nigel Smith, aged 33, of Rochdale Old Road, Bury, pleaded guilty to failing to stop and failing to report an accident when his VW Golf collided with a Skoda Octavia, Mercedes and Vauxhall Zafira on Eastham Avenue, Bury.

Smith also admitted careless driving on Walmersley Road, Hampton Grove and Eastham Avenue and, on December 29, wasting police time.

In addition to the curfew, Smith was banned from holding a driving licence for a year and was also ordered to pay £160 towards prosecution costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
