A NEW bar and live music venue has opened in the heart of Tottington.

Stanley’s of Tottington opened in the former home of Capito and Café Turin, in Market Street, on Friday.

Ahead of its opening, the building underwent a full refurbishment, with a new bar being installed, new flooring and walls put in, as well as a modern, minimalist decor, giving it a Scandinavian feel.

The man behind the venture is Tottington resident Tom Sharman, who had worked at the bar under its previous owners since the age of 13, firstly as a pot washer before eventually becoming bartender and then manager under its previous guises.

When the previous owners decided to move on in November, Mr Sharman says the opportunity to turn the space into ‘something special’ was too good to turn down.

The 22-year-old added: “I wanted to make something by the village, for the village.

“Tottington needed a new local hub for live music, cocktails and beers where locals can relax and socialise, which is what I’m hoping Stanley’s will become.”

In a bid to cement its place in the village’s heritage, Sharman decided to name the bar after his grandfather Stanley Woodcock, a Tottington local who died last year.

Stanley’s will be open seven days a week, offering an extensive cocktail menu along with plenty of house wines and lagers.

Live music will be hosted on Friday and Saturday evenings and will feature a range of local artists and bands.
