A MEDLEY of singing mermaids will be bringing a touch of magic to the Trafford Centre this half term.

Families will be able to join in with the performances which will include children’s favourites ‘Somewhere Beyond the Sea’ and ‘Baby Shark’.

Alison Niven, regional centre director at intu Trafford Centre, said: “The architecture and décor of intu Trafford Centre gives us a wonderful backdrop with which to surprise and delight our shoppers.

“Our fountains are a must-visit for most shoppers and enchanting singing mermaids will certainly create a true wow moment for shoppers who can’t resist a little magic!”

There are 14 fountains at the Trafford Centre featuring figures including mermaids, water nymphs and water-shooting dolphins.

Warrington Guardian:

The musical mermaids will first pop up around the shopping centre's fountains on Valentine’s Day at 5.30pm, 6.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm, entertaining shoppers with a repertoire of romantic love songs ranging from George Ezra to Sam Smith.

Then families can look out for repeat performances on Tuesday 19 and Thursday 21 February at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm at the Circe fountain outside Debenhams on lower Regent Crescent.

More than £600,000 has been raised by the centre from coins thrown into the fountains by shoppers – all donated to local causes via the Fountain Fund.

Three local charities are chosen by shoppers every year to receive the coins – 2019’s charities are the Army Benevolent Fund, Trafford Domestic Abuse Service and Once Upon a Smile.
