PLANS have been submitted for a new hand car wash and valeting business at a supermarket.

Waves Valeting Services Ltd could begin operating at the Asda car park in Pilkington Way, Radcliffe.

Applicant Amrina Piroos has submitted plans to Bury Council for the new service and associated advertising.

If approved, nine of the existing 521 car parking spaces would occupy a car wash and cabin.

The current spaces — taking up an area of 125.28sqm — would be replaced with a concrete pad and drain to become a wet wash area. The business would also comprise a jet wash, vacuums and a new water recycling system.

The application read: "The car wash will discharge up to a maximum volume of 1m3 per 24 hours; the water will be filtered using a recycling system and re-used within the car

wash. We will use only biodegradable detergents. The foul water will be directed to the foul sewer."

A steel cabin and canopy would be built to serve as an office, reception and storage area.

Proposed operating hours would be between 8.30am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 4.30pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The business could provide employment for four full-time and four part-time members of staff.

Ms Piroos also seeks to build five fascia signs, the tallest being 2.3m high, and several other freestanding signs for advertising.

Consent is sought for advertising between March 28 this year and March 29 in 2024.
