A POLICE officer has been arrested following allegations he abused his position for sexual gain.

The 32-year-old police constable with Greater Manchester Police was arrested today at an address in Tameside and has been detained for questioning.

An investigatory team with the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) arrested the officer today and a search of his home is also being carried out.

The PC was arrested on suspicion of corrupt or improper exercise of police powers and privileges, coercive and controlling behaviour in an intimate relationship, harassment, misconduct in a public office and a data protection offence.

The IOPC has said the arrest came via a referral from Greater Manchester Police and is not linked to any other ongoing investigations.
