A TEAM of top international barber teachers are bringing their skills to Bury.

Bury College will host The Great British Barber Bash showcase on Monday, where a group of experts in the field will showcase the latest techniques demonstrated by some of the country’s top barbers.

The event hopes to give current or aspiring barbers and hairdressers the opportunity to ask questions to industry leading professionals whilst gaining the most up-to-date skills and knowledge.

As well as a demonstration, two top barbers will give tips and advice, providing inspiration for potential top hairdressers of the future.

Garry Spencer, organiser of The Great British Barber Bash, said: “It is our first time presenting in Bury so we are really looking forward to meeting lots of new people.

“It’s always great for people to meet us for the first time and feel our enthusiasm and energy for the trade.”

He added: “The showcases themselves are fun, informative and also brimming with skills and techniques.”

College spokesman Victoria Howell said: “We are always investing in new skills and techniques so we thought that hosting the Great British Barber Bash would be a great opportunity to keep our students at the top of their game.”

She added: “The showcase is open to the public, not just students of the college. It will also be interesting and useful for anyone who is considering training to work in the hair industry.”

The showcase itself takes place between 6pm and 9pm but during the day the team will be holding masterclasses with the college students.

Among the courses the Market Street college offers are a level 1 certificate in barbering, a level 2 diploma in barbering and a university level hair management course.

Miss Howell said: “From September of this year we will be running a level 3 NVQ diploma in barbering which people can apply for now.”

The showcase will take place at the Jim Cartwright Theatre, at the college’s Beacon Centre in Market Street, from 6pm-9pm.

Tickets are £25.00 per person and include a £20 goodie bag. They can be bought at www.greatbritishbarbersbash.co.uk.
