COUNCILLORS voted to approve a 3.9 per cent rise in council tax this evening.
The Conservative and Liberal Democrat groups voted against the controlling Labour group’s plan to increase the tax.
The increase is made up of a one per cent rise for adult social care and a 1.25 per cent general increase.
The remainder comes from a hike in the mayoral precept to cover costs for policing and fire and rescue services.
The Conservative, Liberal Democrat and UKIP groups each submitted their own amendments but all were voted down.
