THE public are being invited to vote for the community groups across Bury they think should receive council funding.

Bury Council's 'Pitch' funding was launched in November 2017 and has continued to grow in popularity, with a record 122 projects seeking support in the latest round of funding.

Each of the bidding groups will showcase their proposals at one of six 'Pitch' event across the borough next month.

Residents will then be able to vote on which projects they want to fund.

The six Pitch funding events are:

  • Bury West: Saturday, March 2, 11am at All Saints Church
  • Whitefield/Unsworth: Sunday, March 3, 1pm at St Michael’s Hall
  • Radcliffe: Saturday, March 9, 11am at Radcliffe United Reformed Church
  • Prestwich: Sunday, March 10, 11am at Longfield Suite
  • Ramsbottom, Tottington, North Manor: Saturday 16 March, 1pm at Holcombe Brook Sports Club
  • Bury East: Saturday, March 23, 11am at the Polish Centre

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for communities and safer neighbourhoods, said: "Once again we have seen a huge amount of interest from a wide range of innovative community projects which epitomises the community spirit in Bury and demonstrates the work being undertaken by our unsung heroes right here in our neighbourhoods.

“I would encourage residents to come to our Pitch events to hear about the projects in their area and then vote for how the funding should be used. The events will also be an opportunity for our groups to network, recruit volunteers and potentially start collaborative new projects with other members of the community. Please join us there and have your say.”
