NELSON Wanderers and Tempest produced convincing victories in the only two games to take place in the Bolton At Home Sunday Football League this weekend.

Nelson gained the bragging rights in style against close rivals Bolton Town with a 7-1 Premier Division win in which John Girling was the star of the show with a hat-trick.

His first goal came after only five minutes with an excellent finish, and he doubled his tally five minutes later.

Bottom club Bolton Town halved the arrears on 35 minutes when Paul Hornby New beat his defender and coolly slotted past the goalkeeper.

Sixth-placed Nelson restored their two-goal cushion minutes later with a goal from man-of-the-match Elliot Hird, and Rob Heyes made it 4-1 just before half time.

Girling, Ryan Fenton and Chez O’Brian added three more in the second half.

The ever-improving Tempest took their unbeaten run to seven games and moved up to fifth place in the Premier Division with a 6-0 home victory over ninth-placed Grapes.

The Lostock side began the rout in the seventh minute with a quality finish from Corey Needham, who added a second in the 35th minute.

Two goals in as many minutes from prolific striker Heath Ainscow made it 4-0 at half time.

Visiting defender Tom Coen scored an own goal 10 minutes into the second half, and the Farnworth side's misery was complete in the 82nd minute when Chris Bullworthy added the sixth.
