MACKENZIE Middleton's career is going from strength to strength after he won the England Seniors’ Weightlifting title.

The former Bolton School student took the gold medal in the super heavyweight class at the national championships in Milton Keynes in January, and broke the British Under-23 clean and jerk record.

His latest national success adds to the title he won at the British Under-20 Championships in 2017.

Not forgetting his roots, 20-year-old Middleton, who trains at Adlington Barbell Club and hopes to represent England at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, visited his old school the day after winning gold at the senior championships to talk to pupils about the sport and take them through the basic skills in the gym.
