PREMIER Division leaders Flixton Cricket Club A had no trouble beating their B team when the Bolton and District Table Tennis League returned to league action last week.

They won 24-5 with nine points from both Stephen Scowcroft and Tony Worthington.

Second-placed Ramsbottom Town A had a maximum-points 27-6 victory over second-bottom Ladybridge A.

They are just seven points behind Flixton and will be looking to regain top spot when Flixton have a week off this week. Third-placed Ramsbottom Town B, who are out of title contention, also had a 27-6 win against bottom-of-the-table Hilton B.

Fourth-placed Little Lever Cricket Club A won 21-17 against Radcliffe Cricket Club with nine points from Ron Durose and Graham Jeffries.

In the lower mid-table, Wharton just pipped Hilton A 17-16.

In Division Two, it was business as usual for top team Burning Desire as they had a full points 27-5 win against fourth-placed Polonia Club A.

Second-placed Wigan TTC also went to town with a 26-4 victory over Hilton C with nine points from Paul Clark and Daniel Watkinson.

Third-placed Ramsbottom Town D maintained their good form with a 26-10 victory over eighth-placed Wingates with nine points from Martin Holt and Tommy Ryan.

Fifth-placed Coburg went down 21-17 to seventh-placed Hilton D, despite a resisting nine from Chris Naylor.

Mid-table Little Lever B had a 25-9 win against bottom team Meadow Ben A assisted by nine points from Paul Tatlock and Roy Costello.

Ninth-placed Farnworth SC A were back in action minus stalwart John Hutchinson, who is continuing his recovery from illness.

They pipped Heaton Cricket Club A 19-17 with Heaton’s David Hall putting up resistance with nine points.

With a result to come, Hilton E are still top of Division Two.

Second-placed Polonia Club B had a 21-16 victory over fifth-placed Meadow Ben B, assisted by nine points from Vojtech Sanc.

Just behind are Saint Paul’s Peel who also have a result to come.

Fourth-placed Heaton Cricket Club B had a 22-14 win against Hilton Top Spinners, with nines from Martin Hulton and David Jones.

At the bottom of the table, Walkden Methodists beat bottom team Hilton F 19-14, helped by nine points from John Barker.

Farnworth Social Circle C are fairly comfortable at the top of Division Three.

They had an open date last week when the two teams immediately below them swapped places as Meadow Ben C pushed Meadow Hill A into third place.

Meadow Ben had a 21-11 victory over Irlam Steel, assisted by nine points from Ian Wheeldon, while Meadow Hill A were pipped 19-17 by fourth-placed Farnworth Social Circle D for whom Elena Cecilia Tepelus won nine points.

Fifth-placed Polonia Club C came unstuck 22-10 at the hands of 10th-placed Ladybridge C, with nine points from John Hilton and Robin Llewellyn of Ladybridge.

Mid-table Meadow Ben D had a 16-16 draw against juniors Hilton I, with Jamie Sutcliffe winning nine points for Hilton. Hilton H beat their own G team 22-9 assisted by nine points from Wes Jones, and Albany had a maximum-points victory over bottom team Meadow Hill B 27-4.
