A CAT charity is set to open a shop in Bury town centre.

The Cats Protection store will open on The Rock at the end of the month, and an appeal has been issued for volunteers to help run it.

The shop will support the work of the Bolton branch of Cats Protection with its work in caring for cats, and will sell a variety of second-hand clothes and household goods, as well as bric-a-brac and books

Residents are invited along to the official shop opening from 10am on Thursday, 28 March.

And ahead of the opening, the new team will be taking donations at the shop from Monday, 11 March onwards.

They are also on the hunt for volunteers to help with sorting stock, selling and visual merchandising.

Manager Diane Real said: “We would love to hear from anyone willing to volunteer their time to help run the shop. It is a great way to gain retail experience and also make new friends.”

“Funds raised by the shop will help unwanted cats in Cats Protection’s care, so we hope local people see us as a cause worth supporting.”

The shop's opening hours will be 9am-5pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.

The Bury shop will be part of Cat Protection's national network of more than 250 volunteer-run branches, 36 centres and 110 shops that together help around 200,000 cats and kittens each year.
