RETIRED teacher has been recognised for his dedication.
Ivan Fish was given honorary life membership for his long service to the Bury association of teachers' union NASUWT.
Mr Fish has been a member of the union for 42 years and was honoured at the annual meeting of the local branch.
He has held the position of Local President of the Bury Association and been a committee member for many years.
Mr Fish is now an active member of the retired teachers' association.
He currently holds the posts of Benevolent Secretary, helping many teachers and their families.
Karen Hopwood Bury Negotiating Secretary said: "Sometimes situations arise where members of the union experience financial hardship through no fault of their own and as a result of unforeseen circumstances. "The NASUWT Benevolent fund was created to provide effective short term assistance during times of difficulty. Bury Branch are grateful to Ivan for carrying out this important work on behalf of the Union.”
Mr Fish was presented with a certificate and special badge by David Tarver who is also an honorary life member.
He is only the third NASUWT member in Bury to receive the special award.
Mr Fish said he was proud to have been recognised in this way.
