BIG-hearted brainboxes raised hundred of pounds to support those with cancer in the region and their families at a quiz night.

More than 90 quizzers put their knowledge to the test at the event organised by Bury law firm Clough & Willis and held at Elton vale Sports Club last week — raising more than £700 for Bury Cancer Support Unit.

The 26 teams came from across various business sectors including banking, marketing, property, accounting, IT and financial services — but there could only be one winner.

The title was taken by eggheads from Lex Business Equipment, based in Smyrna Street, Radcliffe, who scored an impressive 47 points.

Snapping at their heels were runners up I-Com International Ltd, based in Manchester, who took the second spot after scoring 43 andcorrectly answering a three way tie-break question against staff from Affordable Accounts Group and Towergate Insurance.

Lee Marston, managing partner at Clough & Willis, said: “This year’s quiz was once again a fantastic success and it was great to see so many local business people in one room having fun and networking. We’d also like to thank all the participating teams for raising so much for such a vital and worthwhile cause.”
