RESIDENTS have been called upon to help shape the future of Radcliffe.

A workshop will take place tonight to give members of the community the chance to have their say on plans for the town centre.

Lancashire-based Thinking Place, a marketing, design and photography firm have organised the event, in collaboration with the Radcliffe Regeneration Task Group.

Cllr Jamie Walker, chairman of the group, said: "Being a successful place is great news for everyone in Radcliffe.

"Making potential investors, visitors and workers aware of what we have to offer — and will offer in the future — will boost the local economy and advance a bright future for our town.

"This year Bury Council will be investing £1m in Radcliffe to stimulate this work, including improvements to the town centre, a new CCTV scheme, action on parking and us being part of the Greater Manchester Mayor's Town Centre Challenge.

"To drive this ambition forward, and to get Radcliffe thought about more, we want to develop the 'story' for the town, identifying what makes us distinctive.

"We want to create a competitive, coherent and compelling narrative that we can all use as ambassadors for the area."

The Regeneration Task Group is working alongside Thinking Place who have organised the workshop so that members of the community can give their views on how the town's future should be shaped.

Visitors are invited to Radcliffe Market between 6pm and 7pm tonight.

Anyone who would like to attend should contact Cllr Walker or send their full name, email address and telephone number to radclifferegeneration@bury.gov.uk.
