A WEEKEND of sporting fun will be held at a Prestwich park this weekend.

The Big Tennis Weekend is coming to St Mary's Park on Sunday, and will be hosted by grassroots sports charity, Tennis for Free.

The charity currently runs free sessions on 87 parks around the whole of the UK with plans to open more throughout this year.

And, by hosting the Big Tennis Weekend, it aims to encourage more people to take up the sport.

All sessions are coach-led and suitable for the whole family aged from 3 years plus, and each session combines a different mixture of fun drills, mass participation games and free play every week.

People are invited to go along to learn new skills, develop their tennis, while using the opportunity to spend time and get active together with family and friends.

All equipment will be provided.

Tennis for Free chairman Patrick Hollwey said: “The Big Tennis Weekend is all about getting people from right across their community out into their parks and having fun, making new friends and hitting lots of balls, giving people the opportunity to mix together, get some exercise and use their park facilities all for free, let’s make this into the biggest weekend of parks tennis this country has ever seen!”
