A PUBLIC meeting is being held to discuss plans to build hundreds of homes in Walmersley.

An application to build 268 houses on the Tetrosyl site off Walmersley Old Road was lodged with Bury Council earlier this month.

Residents are invited to discuss the plans from 7pm on Wednesday, April 3 at Walmersley Church Hall in Walmersley Road.

North Manor councillors James Daly, Dorothy Gunther and Khalid Hussain have organised the meeting and have also invited representatives from the council and Barratt Homes to attend.

The developer hopes to build a range of properties, including two bed mews houses, three bed townhouses, three and four bed semi-detached and detached properties and two bedroom apartments.

A spokesman for the developer said discussions to buy the site from Tetrosyl are at “an advanced stage”.

The site, which is situated to the west of the M66, currently houses a number of Victorian mill buildings, all of which would be demolished to make way for the homes.
