POLICE have released a photograph of a man they want to speak with in connection with a robbery in Whitefield.

The victim, a man in his 70s, was approached by a man who said he was working next door to the property in Higher Lane.

He claimed he had hit a water main and asked him to switch off his electricity.

As the victim went inside his house, the offender stole his black Audi S8 and fled the scene, police said.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in Uplands Avenue, Radcliffe.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "The victim wasn’t injured, but was left understandably shaken."

Police are appealing for information about the robbery, which occurred at about 11am on March 4.

The offender is described as white, aged about 30, and of slim build.

He was wearing a grey padded jacket, jeans and a white hard hat.
