HE may only be eight but Wyatt Sweeney has already done more for charity than many people manage in a lifetime.

Now the St Hilda's CE Primary School pupil is about to take on his fourth charity event - a mini triathlon which will involve him running a mile, cycling a mile and swimming half-a-mile.

"We're so proud of him." said his mum, Kelly. "If he sees or hears about someone who needs help then he's there doing something for them."

Wyatt, who lives in Lever Street, Radcliffe, began his altruism at the tender age of four.

"He saw a homeless man in Prestwich and encouraged me to give him some food vouchers," said Kelly. "It's typical of him - he's got such a lovely caring nature."

Last year Wyatt raised £90 by taking part in the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Lantern Walk. He also raised £276 for music and dance charity Liv's Trust by participating in a 2.5km run.

As if that wasn't enough, Wyatt did chores for family and friends so he could buy £40 of toys for the Cash for Kids appeal, and his Holcombe Hill climb saw people donating 254 selection boxes which he gave to Derian House Children's Hospice, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and Grace's Place Children's Hospice.

It's little wonder that he has been nominated for a Pride of Bury award.

His triathlon takes place on April 13 and he is asking people to donate Easter eggs for North Manchester General Hospital's children ward.To donate please contact 07894526291.
