A PEDESTRIAN has died after collision in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to Bury New Road in Prestwich at 2.30am with the man, who is in his mid-30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision involved a silver Mercedes Vito.
The driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw a man walking along Bury New Road or Butterstile Lane to get in touch.
PC Peter Cunningham from GMP’s serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my heart goes out to the man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“We are working to establish the exact circumstances leading up to the collision and we are hoping the public might have information which could help this investigation and give this man’s family the answers they deserve.
“If you witnessed what happened, or if you saw the silver Mercedes Vito or the pedestrian prior to the collision, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage.”
The road was closed throughout the early hours and opened at 9am.
