TWO people have been arrested after a driver led police on a high-speed chase through the streets of Bury town centre.

Police were called after a black Fiat 500 vehicle was stolen from Bolton town centre yesterday morning.

Officers called for additional support from the National Police Air Service police helicopter, who discovered the car in Bury.

Greater Manchester Police's traffic patrols used a ramming technique to bring the vehicle to a halt.

They tweeted about the incident yesterday afternoon: "Fiat 500 stolen from @GMPBoltonCentre this morning. Located in @GMPBuryNorth with assistance from @NPASBarton.

"Firm contact was made using our BMW 5 Series to prevent a pursuit through the busy town centre and minimise risk to the public.

"Pursuit prevented and two under arrest."
