ALL'S fair in love and war — and that was certainly the case back in 1`978, when Bolton Little Theatre produced the British comedy The Cure for Love.

Walter Greenwood's play showed in November of that year, starring Sandra Johnson and Milly Souther, Christine Manning as Janey Jenkins and Cath Blower as Mrs Jenkins.

The play centres on Jack Hardacre who comes home on leave after three years in the army to find Milly, a pretty Londoner, billeted with his mother.

He is immediately attracted to her — but is engaged to Janey, whose mother is determined he marries her daughter.

And Jack asks what the cure for love is — marriage!
