MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 100 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting his wife and father on May 3. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Adrian Dewar, aged 35, of Betley Street, Radcliffe, was also ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges.

A MAN caught speeding on Bury Road in a Porsche on August 14 last year has been banned from holding a driving licence for six months. Brian Levine, aged 50, of Old Hall Road, Whitefield, was also fined £70 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge.

A WOMAN who tried to use a bank card stolen in a burglary has been given a suspended prison sentence. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Andrea Kane, aged 43, of Bank Street, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to receiving the card, attempting to fraudulently use it on November 16 last year and failing to surrender to custody. She was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for six months and was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole four bottles of vodka, worth £105, from the Dusk to Dawn store in Bury on March 24 has been ordered to have treatment for drug addiction. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Lisa Smith, aged 41, of Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to committing the offence. She was ordered to participate in a thinking skills programme for 21 days and 10 days of rehabilitation activities. Smith must also pay £105 in compensation and £85 towards prosecution costs.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a teenager to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to having a Stanley knife and being drunk and disorderly in Silver Street, Bury on March 24.

Sakeb Hussain, aged 19, of no fixed address, must also participate in 40 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £170 in costs and charges.

A MAN has been fined £600 and ordered to pay £480 in costs and charges after he was caught selling fake goods and unsafe toys. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Raghbir Bhatia, aged 38, of Windsor Road, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to committing offences under the trademarks and consumer protection acts on February 2 last year. The court heard that Bhatia was offering to sell shock laser guns which did not meet essential safety requirements and fake goods bearing Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Chelsea FC logos.

A MAN who ignored a restraining order and visited a victim’s home address in Bury on April 23 and 24 has been jailed for eight months. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Jonathan Falashie, aged 49, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

MAGISTRATES have handed a man a 16 week prison sentence, suspended for two years after he damaged a woman’s door and window and harassed her by sending numerous text messages and making multiple phone calls. Gary Currie, aged 33, of Garston Street, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on March 31. The court heard that he had “wilful disregard for people and their property” and had caused great distress. He was ordered to pay £500 in compensation plus £85 towards prosecution costs and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Victor Avenue, Bury.

MAGISTRATES have given a man a suspended prison sentence after he admitted using threatening behaviour towards two people on March 26. Saeed Ghani, aged 33, of Polefield Circle, Prestwich, was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for two years and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting a victim. He was also ordered to pay £200 in costs and charges.
