A PENSIONER has been taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a car this morning.

Sunny Bank Road was closed between the junctions of Manchester Road and Ajax Drive due to the incident, which happened shortly before 8.45am.

A woman in her eighties suffered injuries to her head and arms and has been taken to Salford Royal Hospital.

Traffic in the area was affected by the crash, while the 95 bus service was diverted via Parr Lane, Hollins Lane and Hollins Brow.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at about 8.45am.

"We treated a female in her 80s for injuries to her head and arms and she has been taken to hospital."

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
