A POPULAR country pub is on the hunt for a new landlord.

The Garsdale, in Woodhill Road, has been put on the market and a new licensee is being sought, after current landlord Simon Doughty announced he is selling up to pursue a new venture.

Located close to Burrs Country Park, the large pub opened in 1980 and boasts a main bar area and separate restaurant, with space for 90 customers, served by a commercial kitchen.

It also comes with its own car park and a large beer garden with a children's play area.

For any potential landlord, there is a four bedroom apartment on the pub's first floor used as owner's accommodation.

The Garsdale is marketed at £69,950, plus £25,000 rent per year, with the Bury-based Blacks Business Brokers.

John Gaskell, director at Blacks Business Brokers, said: “The Garsdale is one of the best-located pubs in Bury, enjoying a great combination of passing trade from visitors to Burrs Country Park and regular local custom.

"Our client, Mr Doughty, has introduced new menus which have been really popular and the business is in a superb position for a new proprietor to hit the ground running.

“It also includes a really substantial apartment which could be used as owner’s or manager’s accommodation, or be let out to provide an extra income stream.

"A local marketing drive could further increase footfall so this is a great opportunity to come in and build on some great foundations.”

Current landlord Mr Doughty took over the pub in 2015 and saw The Garsdale turnover £304,000 and generate a profit of £113,000 in the last financial year.

However Mr Doughty has now decided to sell up to set up a consultancy business in the hospitality sector.
