A man has been taken to hospital following a crash on the Grane Road.

The incident happened at around 8.40am close to junction five of the M65 exit slip road.

Emergency services were called to the scene and on arrival found that a motorbike and a car had been involved in a collision near to the roundabout at Guide/Shadsworth.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 8.44am to reports of a crash close to junction five of the M65 slip road.

"A man, who we believe to be in his early 60s, was taken to hospital with a number of injuries to his shoulder and his leg."

The ambulance service arrived at the incident within seven minutes of being called and remained at the scene for almost an hour. 

A police spokesperson said: "There was a fuel spillage as a result of the crash which was attended to by the fire service."

The Grane Road was closed while the police and fire service dealt with the incident.

A lane closure was put in place on the exit ramp at junction five westbound (Guide/Shadsworth).

Traffic was held while the scene was made safe, and the road was re-opened before 10am.
