TWO men have been charged in connection with a carjacking in Prestwich.

At around 11pm on Thursday, police were called to reports of the carjacking in Duckworth Road.

The previous day, officers were also called to reports of a burglary where a car was stolen in Clifton Road, Swinton.

Colin Gibson, aged 33, of Furness Avenue, Oldham, has now been charged with robbery and burglary in connection with both incidents.

Leon Eckersley, aged 21, of Holden Street, Oldham has also been charged with robbery, burglary, theft, dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 27.

Both cars have since been recovered.
