FIRE crews were called after a fallen tree was set on fire by young vandals.
The incident happened at around 3pm in woodland near the rear of the Hare and Hounds pub in Holcombe Brook.
By the time fire crews arrived the log was smouldering and they then ensured the area was safe.
Following the incident a spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are encouraging parents to be vigilant and know where their children are during the Bank Holiday and school holidays, as we seem to see a trend in deliberate fires during these times."
