THIS week’s delve into the picture archives at The Bolton News has unearthed this photograph of St Cuthbert's RC School cricket team taken in July 1980.

The information accompanying the picture says they were the losing finalists in the Bolton Schools Under-14 cricket final, losing by four wickets to Hayward School with just three balls remaining.

There is no other information accompanying the picture so we would like to hear any memories from readers.

Do you remember that team or recognise anyone pictured?

Did you play in that final?

THE second picture of Astley Bridge CC from June 1987 was featured in the sporting nostalgia section on May 24 and brought back memories for several readers.

Lisa Fairhurst emailed: "My dad, Roy Marland, who sadly passed away four years ago is bottom right with the cricket bat.

"They were a great team. I was nine years old when I used to watch these games and collect for my dad’s 50s, when attendance was high in those days.

"Second row, first on the left, is Karl Krikken. He went on to play for Derbyshire.

"Ray Eccleshare is the guy with the moustache in the middle and Mick Skinner is back row, third in from the right.

"I don’t remember them all or the tales they had to tell about the matches they played, however my dad would have had many to tell.

"Thank you for evoking those great memories – happy times."

Meanwhile, Afzal Munshi said: "My dad played for the team and is on the bottom row – his name is Farooq Munshi.

"The person in the middle of the bottom row is Ray Eccleshare."
