TICKETS have gone on sale for a masquerade ball that promises magic, glitz and glamour — all in aid of one of Bury's most crucial charities.

The upcoming event at The Midland Hotel in Manchester is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Bury Cancer Support Centre, which last August marked 15 years of providing vital care, support and friendship for those affected by cancer and their families.

Sue Hyland, a volunteer and fundraiser at the centre, said: "As the main fundraising event of our calendar year, this masquerade ball will be a magical event — glitzy and glamorous with an emphasis on fun.

"If you have not been to one of these spectacular events, please join us for this very special evening — you will not be disappointed and you will receive the warmest of welcomes.

"This event is essential because every penny to run this incredible service comes through fundraising and donations."

Each year the celebration helps to raise about £15,000 for the charity, which is based in Bolton Road.

The ball, on Saturday, September 7, will begin at 7pm with a drinks reception, followed by a four-course meal, live entertainment, an auction and luxury raffle.
