SEVERAL new leaders will be appointed at churches across Bury during two special services at Manchester Cathedral.
Six new leaders in Bury are among a total of 40 soon-to-be appointed members of the clergy.
On Saturday at 2.30pm, the Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Rev Dr David Walker, will ordain as priests: Carole Barnet, serving at St Mary's in Prestwich, and Sheila Beattie, who will serve at both the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin and St Paul's Church in Bury.
Other ordinations include Richard Moffat, who will serve as a priest at St Anne's in Tottington, and Sue Walker, who will become a priest at St Margaret's in Prestwich.
Later this month, Rev Walker will ordain Katherine McKie as a deacon at St Mary's in Prestwich.
During the service at 10.30am on Sunday, June 30, he will also appoint Michele Ryan as a deacon in the benefice of Hillock and Unsworth.
