A MAN has died after crashing into a wall in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Croft Lane in Bury to reports of the collision, involving a silver Hyundai i30, shortly after 3.50am.

The car had been travelling along Croft Lane in the direction of Pilsworth when it swerved across the road and smashed head-on into the brick wall of a building on Croft Lane Industrial Estate.

The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, suffered fatal injuries and died.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Ambulance and the fire service were also called to the scene.

Police are now appealing for information in relation to the crash.

Sergeant Jon McColl of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the man at this tragic time.

“They are being supported by specialist officers while we ascertain the full circumstances surrounding this collision.

“Were you in the area at the time of the incident, or do you have any information or dashcam footage that might assist our investigations?

“If so, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Following the crash, Croft Lane was closed in both directions between Hollins Lane and Asda Pilsworth, but later reopened.
