IT'S time for five students to kick-off in a new career thanks to Academy 92 and Trafford College.
College leavers Sam Adetiloye, Kamar Moncrieffe, Anointed Chukwu, Alex Doyle and Brandon Lockett have all been invited to join Salford City FC.
Academy 92, which was launched in 2017, is an initiative founded by the ‘Class of 92’ (Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs) and Salford City FC, which the world famous players own.
The idea, inspired by Gary Neville, sees talented young players aged between 16 and 18 sign up for a two-year programme offering a range of qualifications and personal skills development, as well as football skills, to prepare them for a range of future careers.
Salford City spokesperson Will Moorcroft said: “Instead of just being young footballers, they are also being built up into young professionals. At Trafford College they have picked up teamwork and leadership, and all those traits carry over into football.”
Other graduates of Academy 92 have secured contracts with football clubs such as Glossop North End and Taunton, Somerset, while more still have continued into higher education.
