A WOMAN has been arrested for attempted murder after a man was stabbed multiple times in his head and neck.

The man in his fifties was attacked in Kendall Crescent, in Cutteslowe, Oxford, yesterday and Thames Valley Police said he is in hospital in a 'serious but stable condition'.

A 41-year-old woman, from Oxford, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody at this time.

The force is appealing to anyone who may have seen the attack or 'heard a disturbance' that happened between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector James Senior, said: “We are investigating this incident which we believe is isolated.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

"As part of our enquiries we are asking local residents who may have seen or heard a disturbance to come forward.

"I am particularly keen to speak to anyone that may have been walking or driving along Kendall Crescent and noticed a male and female arguing or any residents who live on Kendall Crescent that we have not yet spoken to that can provide any information.

"Members of the public will see an increased police presence and a cordon is likely to remain in place until later this afternoon."
