A NEW charity shop is due to open this weekend to provide vital financial support for Bury Hospice.

Two doors down from their existing charity shop in Blackburn Street, in Radcliffe, the hospice will launch another unit on Saturday.

Shoppers will be able to fill a branded bag with clothes and accessories, and take it away with them for £10.

Sam Duncan, Head of Retail and Trading at Bury Hospice said: “We are delighted to be opening this shop. Our Buy a Bag shop is perfect for avid charity shoppers who love a good rummage, as well as those on the hunt for high street brands for the bargain price of a tenner.”

The pop-up shop will stock men’s, women’s and children’s clothes as well as accessories which have been donated to the hospice.

This latest retail venture will bring in vital income to support the continued provision and expansion of palliative care services at the hospice.

Earlier this year, the number of beds for inpatients was increased from six to eight, and a new outreach service was also introduced to support patients and their families at home.

Nicola Cheetham, Head of Clinical Services at Bury Hospice, said: “The Buy a Bag shop aims to help us raise vital income whilst giving bargain hunters the chance to clothe the whole family for £10.

“I would encourage anyone to visit the shop and grab some bargains.”

The hospice’s retail operations currently contribute about 28 per cent of the income needed to run the services.

Ms Duncan said: “I am extremely grateful for the incredible support we have received from our commercial sponsors and those who have generously donated their pre-loved items.”
