THE end is in sight for roadworks on a busy Westhoughton road.

Two way signals have been in effect while Cadent Gas has been installing a new gas main in Manchester Road, between Bolton Road and the Chequerbent Roundabout. The work should be completed on Monday.

However the gas works continue to cause misery to drivers in Blackburn Road as the surrounding area.

Baythorpe Street and Crumpsall Street are both closed until Tuesday July 9, while Cadent continue the current phase of their huge gas main renewal works

St Helen’s Road, Salford Road, Newbrook Road and Four Lane Ends will all continue to be affected by multi-way signals for another month as the carriageway is resurfaced and traffic signals are updated.

Pimlott Road should reopen to drivers today, upon the completion of carriageway surface dressing works by Bolton Council’s Highways department.

Next Friday, Grecian Crescent should return to normal as well. Since June 17, two way signals have been up near Makka Mosque, while the carriageway is patched, but this work is nearing completion.

Similar work in Scot Lane, Blackrod, will also come to an end next Friday.

Two way signals have been outside the ambulance station for the past two weeks.
