FIRE crews were called to a blaze in an area of woodland in Bury.
A pile of rubbish was on fire behind the allotments in Newbold Street, creating a large quantity of black smoke.
Firefighters from Bury station were called to the scene at about 7.15pm yesterday.
The incident is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing to established the cause.
Crews used water from the nearby stream to put out the fire.
